But somethings wrong with the upload...

Post by Johan Söderberg »

I got a link to download the latest version but the installer says (in Swedish then): "You can´t install LXConsole on this volume. You already have a newer version installed."

As said I have version 1.1.4 installed.

See the instructions below. There's clearly something wrong with the Apple PackageMaker that won't install an obviously newer version over a clearly older one. It may have something to do with installing a newer Leopard/Intel version over an existing Universal Tiger+ version. But, there's no conclusive proof that that is the case.

Following the instructions should fix the problem. It does not seem to recur with further updates after it has been fixed.

What instructions?

I now have trashed LXConsole1.1.4 but still can´t install the latest download.
Is there anything else I need to dump before a new installation?

There appears to be an occasional proble with LXConsole installer when trying to install an updated version.

If you are getting a message like "nothing to install" or "can't install because a newer version exists", Try this:

In the Library folder of your hard drive look for the Receipts folder. In there may be a package receipt for LXConsole.pkg. Delete this file and try to install.

If this doesn't allow you to install, go to the Terminal and type:

sudo pkgutil --forget com.claudeheintzdesign.lxconsole.pkg

(yes, there are two dashes before forget)
