scanning in set design

Post by jpinchot »

I am a new user and I apologize if this question has already been asked and answered.

I have a set design on an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper. I would like to scan it in and do my lighting design over it. Is this possible?

Yes, this is easily possible. The scanned file should be saved in a format that the system supports (jpg and png are pretty universal). Then, choose Insert->Graphic from File... from LXFree for Java's Format menu.

You may want to add a layer specifically for the scanned image to keep it separate from other objects in the drawing.

PDF is not currently supported by LXFree for Java. But, we are looking into using an open source library to allow PDF graphics to be imported.

LXFree for Java 1.3.2 is now available. This new version adds the ability to import PDF files using the Format->Insert->Graphic from File... command.
