Developing a version of LXBeams that runs using Java is on the list of projects... For a while recently was a lot of negative publicity about the security of Java and its future was unclear. Apple, for instance, has dropped Java from OS X (and it never was allowed on iOS). You can still run Java on a Mac but it's harder than it used to be. Java's future on other operating systems also seemed in question. This appears to have settled down and Java still seems to be a viable platform. But, because of this uncertainty, during the last year or so, LXBeams for iPad has been a priority. This has taken longer than expected. But, with the new iPad Air, LXBeams for iPad has reached a solid level of usability. At the moment the priority is finishing the 64 bit version of LXBeams for iPad. But, after that is stable, turning back to focusing on Java development is possibly the next step.
