Mirror L/R question

Hello LX Series forum,

I have encountered a problem when using the mirror L/R function, which I use a lot in my designs.

for example if I have a fixture in the grid on stage right, focused at:
Focus X -1m
Focus Y 3m
Focus Height 0m

then I mirror that fixture L/R. The fixture is created in the right spot at the right height, but the focus in this new fixtures is completely different, it becomes:
Focus X 1.83m
Focus Y 6.2m
Focus Height 8.3m

Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug maybe?

It sounds as though you have the "Duplicate Uses Relative Focus" option enabled. You'll find this setting in the preferences Focus tab.

I did have the Duplicate Uses relative Focus enabled.
I even didn't know I did. Thanks for your help!

Out of curiosity, what do you use that option to?

If you are developing a system on a pipe, you can draw a single symbol and focus it. With "Duplicate Uses relative Focus" enabled, you can then use the duplicate function to make multiple copies of the symbol spaced at the same distance as their focus points.

Say you have a light 8m to SL of center. You focus this directly upstage 3m.

With "Duplicate Uses relative Focus" enabled, you create 4 copies, spaced 4m apart going to SR. These lights will be focused 3m upstage but at 4m, 0, -4m and -8m going SL to SR.

There are a number of commands in Format->Focus that also allow you to copy and then paste relative focus which can make setup of regular systems much quicker that entering the focus of each light.

Thank you very much for explaining this!
