Have we lost the distribution functions somewhere?

Post by Johan Söderberg »

Using LXBems Version 4.6.0 (11020.1)

It seems the tools to distribute objects horizontally and vertically are gone.
They can be found in the menu > format - align, but they dont do much.

Perhaps you could post an example of how you think the commands are not working. If the objects are already evenly distributed, then of course, the commands will seem to not do much.

Ok here are two pictures, or three if you like, since before and after look just the same...

First I mark a bunch of pipes that I want evenly distributed horizontally.Image

And then I trigger the command to distribute them horizontally or vertically,

Doesnt matter which I choose, horizontal or vertical, the result is the same in both cases; nothing happens.

The distribute commands were originally added for arranging shapes (lights). They do not work with lines. But, there' no reason why lines can't be distributed as well. The challenge is that there's a lot of variation in possible orientation of lines. So, in order to have the most consistent results, lines will be distributed using their centers. The latest build, Version 4.6.0 (11124.2), adds distributing lines in this manner.

Great!
I guess a combination of alignment and distribution will work just fine for most cases.
