Channel number bug?

Dear all!

I´m almost sure this has been discussed before, but cannot find any posts about it:
from channel 100-1024 the main-window channels do only show two digits for *01,*02,*03,*06,*07,*08.
The effect can even be seen in the help file "Main Window" image.

Is there a solution to make it view in a correct way?

Grazie + Greetz,

The way the channels are displayed is intentional and is not a bug. Whether this is correct or not could be up for discussion. The reason that LXConsole shows channel numbers in this manner is to simplify and un-clutter a necessarily busy and complex display. The missing left digit(s) for channel numbers ending is 1,2,3,6,7 or 8 can easily be inferred from the surrounding channels. The resulting space actually helps you locate channels better when scanning visually. This is most effective when the size of the window and zoom is such that there is an even multiple of 10 channels per row.

Given that people's expectations and ways of working vary, there is now a preference in the Interface tab (re-named from command line) that allows a wider channel display with all digits for every channel number. This is available in the latest build Version 3.7.2 (8425.1).

You can decide for yourself. But, give yourself a chance to get used to it, and you may find out that the default channel display method is cleaner and clearer. The reason for this is that your brain naturally reads by looking at groups of words. If you start thinking about it, you will start reading word for word which is much slower. But, if you read without conscious effort, you won't actually see each word individually. Likewise, those of us who are used to this style of display no longer even notice that digits are missing. We just locate the channel we are looking for faster.

Thank you very much for your ultra fast help, Claude. You are really unique! It´s perfect now for everybody. I´m using LXC in theaters, firing the cues in sync with audio from Qlab and it works flawlessly. Great job!
