Retaining transparency of imported image

Post by raflowers »

I have imported a .png of the stage floor plan to a discrete layer. It will maintain transparency during the initial session. However, the transparency is lost when opening a saved file. And thus, so is the ability to see the grid.

Any suggestions?

Are you saving in the default xml format? (The file will have an .lxxplot extension) If so, check the File / XML tab of the preferences. Make sure the Use PNG for LXXPlot images box is checked. Otherwise, imported images are stored in JPEG format which makes the file smaller but does not support transparency.

If you are saving files in the OS X binary format (.lxplot) then also check the File / XML tab of the preferences. Make sure that Use JPEG compression for LXPlot images is not selected. LXPlot bitmap images are uncompressed by default and this can result in large file sizes even when the original image was a much smaller JPEG.
