MacLux Pro v2.1 for OS-X
November, 2004.
MacLux Pro v2.1 represents a huge investment in updating MacLux Pro for the OS-X operating system. However, Claude Heintz Design is pleased to announce that all recent licenses for MacLux Pro v2.0 (Jan. 2002 and later ) will be eligible for a free download of version 2.1. (Users must register their copy online to access the download. Other users of MacLux Pro may purchase an upgrade to their copy.)
MacLux Pro v 2.1 Requires Carbon. This software will run under operating systems including OS X which has "carbon" built-in. MacLux Pro also runs under versions of Mac OS Classic (OS 8.6 to 9.2) with CarbonLib installed in the Extensions folder. MacLux Pro has been tested with operating systems up to 10.3. Preferred system software version is 9.2.1.
After MacLux Pro has been installed, you will be required to enter your name, the serial number of the software, and the software key before it will run. You will find the serial number and software key in the materials that came with MacLux Pro. By entering the software key, you are explicitly agreeing to the terms of the software license.
This installer will place a copy of the MacLux Pro application package in the location you select. The application package contains library and documentation files.
Upgrade Info:
If you alredy have a version of MacLux Pro, there are several things you want to note:
MacLux Pro v2.1 is packaged as an application bundle. You may want to remove other copies of MacLux Pro especially any demo versions before installing this new software.
You must have your old serial number to obtain a software key for the new MacLux Pro. Version 1.7 and 2.0 users will find their serial number by selecting "About MacLux Pro" from the Apple Menu. You can obtain a key for your serial number by e-mailing it to keyrequest@macluxpro.com.
MacLux Pro 2.1 files include new printing records that are not compatible with older versions of MacLux Pro, including v2.0. MacLux Pro v2.0 and later uses an enhanced file format that includes features not found in MacLux Pro v1.7, v1.5, or earlier files. When plots are saved in 2.1 format, you will no longer be able to open these files using older versions of MacLux Pro. Plots that use symbol sets other than the standard USITT palette, should only be opened when the startup palette is set to that symbol set (international or studio). These plots will be converted to the new format where the palettes are customizable for each plot.
This installer contains an updated prefs file with enhanced libraries. These libraries are contained within the MacLux Pro application package. To replace the standard libraries with other customized libraries, you must replace the "MacLux Pro Prefs" file. Using the control key and clicking on the MacLux Pro application package allows you to choose to reveal the package contents using the contextual menu. Once the package is open, you can drag you prefs file to replace the one that was included in the package.
If you are upgrading from a version prior to 1.7, you may throw away your old "MacLux Pro Help" file from the preferences folder in your system folder. MacLux Pro uses Apple Help through the Help menu. Additional copies of the documentation may be found on the CD.
License to use this copy of MacLux Pro replaces and revokes any previous license issued.

Claude Heintz Design today announced that MacLux Pro(tm) version 2.0 is ready for shipment. MacLux Pro(tm)is the ten year old industry standard for lighting software on the Macintosh platform. The new release includes significant enhancements to the previous 1.7 version. MacLux Pro(tm) 2.0 is Power Macintosh native and runs under the Mac OS Classic operating system, making it significantly faster than previous versions. Other improvements include streamlining the program's interface and new productivity enhancing features.
MacLux Pro(tm) is a complete lighting design program for Power Macintosh computers. It allows the designer to create light plots by drawing light symbols and hanging positions on top of imported graphics. Information is attached to the drawing as you work, which means paperwork can be extracted without additional effort. Lights can be "turned on," which not only shows their beams but actually allows the creation of cues. MacLux Pro(tm) saves the designer time by integrating all three elements into a single software solution that is intuitive to the way that they are used to working.
MacLux Pro(tm) version 2.0 builds of the softwares strength of ease of use and adds more tools for enhancing productivity. For example, the new Auto-Fill command allows you to automatically assign a series of channel, circuit or dimmer numbers to selected lights. MacLux Pro(tm) version 2.0 also allows for a wider selection of symbols including built-in symbols for newer 6.25 ellipsoidal and PAR instruments. The palette of symbols can now be customized for each plot.
MacLux Pro(tm) v2.0 requires a Power Macintosh with a CD drive, color monitor, 10mb of hard disk space and 10mb of available RAM. Mac OS v8.6/9.1 is recommended.
MacLux Pro(tm) is available from dealers and directly from Claude Heintz Design. The suggested retail price remains at $350 for a single user and $695 for a six user small lab license. Upgrades to v2.0 are $89 retail for a single copy. Consult company's website, http://www.macluxpro.com.html for more information.
